  ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FILMS

Pretty Woman-
Richard Gere,Julia Roberts

Edward is a rich, ruthless businessman who specializes in taking over companies and then selling them off piece by piece. He travels to Los Angeles for a business trip and decides to hire a prostitute. They take a liking to each other and he offers her money if she'll stay with him for an entire week while he makes the "rich and famous" scene (since it doesn't do for a man of his stature to be alone at society parties and polo matches). Romantic comedy (and complications) ensure.
Vivian Ward has found a way of living by working as a prostitute on Hollywood Boulevard. When she runs into the prince of her dreams, who comes along on his wild horse, she first does not recognize him as her saviour. The prince, a ruthless and wealthy businessman by the name of Edward Lewis, does not know that she could be more than just a girl from the sidewalk, but he changes his decision after the first night with the beautiful stranger. Her being the first person in a long time who could surprise him, Edward can slowly feel the light at the end of the tunnel. He is on his way to become a better person, whereas Vivian has got a new chance to start over again.

I love this film.I don´t know how many times I have watched this film since 1990.It is some kind of modern cinderella. Since those years  Richard Gere and Julia Roberts are my favourite actor and actress.Furthermore, the sountracks are really fantastic.Either the song of Roy Orbison or the the song of Roxette. Both are one of my favourite songs since 20 years.I enjoy it every time again....

WHAT`S GOING ON?  4 NON BLONDES

25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this
Brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I try, oh my God do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray, oh my God do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
And I say hey what's goin' on
And I say hey...
I said hey what's goin' on
25 years of my life and still
I'm trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

VIDEO REFLECTION-

BEING AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT IN USA

  1. Linxi said there are few schools which offer the major she wants and it`s hard to enter these school in China. She thinks American schools have more opportunity to practise
Since there is suitable enviroment for creativity and team for which caught Krishna`s interest very much, she prefered America especially for these and she would like to get her degree from there.
Arata wanted to study in foreign countries.
  2. Linxi has lots of problems to get her major programme in her country -China- since it requires a very high degree. so she decides to go to USA to get her major programme more easily. while Krishna looks for the universities in USA she approaches someone who has been living in USA for twenty two years  and some friends of his, graduating from Ohio University, recommends to put krishna at Ohio University for it is a small university and  it is very easy for her to get used to the new culture she comes in. apart from those, the education is mostly based on creativity and teamwork that krishna really likes. Consequently, she decides to go to Ohio University which is an American university.
  3. Arata thinks that his own country's education system is very different. You have to take an entrance exam and choose a major and you can not change it.Furthermore,he says he likes classes in the USA because they are smaller so communication with others is easier.Krishna says her own country's education system is very strict but American education system is more flexible. For example, you can do much more thing besides your major in the USA.
  4. The tuition is around 30.000 or 40.000 dollars. But this price changes in respect of boarding, fees they have to pay and the department they choose etc.
  5. Linxi said thanks to studying in America, she knew there better. There are drying machines which don`t exist in China.
Arata likes American people`s way of talking. They are more relaxed unlike his country.
Krishna experinced a lot of things and created a new goal in her life.
  6. Like every international students, they also experienced culture shock of course.

I want to go abroad like many friends of me.I like to   learn new people from different cultures. Before I came to Metu I lived in Germany for 27 years.Since there are living people with different nationalities, I am used to have people around me with foreign cultures. Finally, I especially want to go to USA or UK because of the language.I want to spend there a few month in order to learn either the british or american accent.

BEING A METU STUDENT

Being a student at METU is something really special.I entered in 2007 beginning with the prep- school. Those days i didn`t recognize that it was the most enjoyable year at METU. I had the honour of being the student of Aysen Karabag, she was my instructor at prep- school. She is still my idol.I met  many nice people , with whom I am still in contact. The first year in Ankara was a little bit hard for me. I had a flat for my own, which was great, however it had also its bad sides. firstly, I was scared of living alone for a while. Then from day to day I got used to it.Another difficulty was the long distance from home to METU. I had a very long way, which took 2-2,5 hours.Because of this I was too late all the time.By the years I got used to the long distance, but still I am too late some days. The second year I changed to my department.Although I loved my department I was unhappy for a period, because I missed my friends at prep- school and the same time a few cousins of me gone to other cities from Ankara, which influenced my psyche badly. However, time passed away and I met new friends, with whom I spent a great time at the campus. In the third year we were often at Makara in Carsi. There we played Trivial Pursuit and Tabu.Other days we met at Faika Demiray dormitory to spend time in the canteen. The most special thing which makes our campus inimitable is that it is so huge and provides us lots of different possibilities to join. All in all Metu is a wonderful university with a unique campus.I am so happy being at Metu and nowadays unhappy that these great time at Metu will end in a few month.

PETE SAMPRAS-

THE LEGEND OF TENNIS

After winning a record number of 14 grand slams, Pete Sampras is arguably the greatest tennis player of all time. Having held the world number 1 ranking for 6 consecutive years, he dominated the tennis arena for most of the 1990s. Showing promise as a junior, he was coached by Peter Fisher, who was responsible for making changes in his style of play. During his childhood, he competed alongside players such as Andre Agassi, Michael Chang and Jim Courier. This would set the scene for the development of legendary rivalries between these players in the 1990s.
